This is Rob Roy Country, packed with vibrant history, beautiful landscapes and brilliant wildlife. Come and enjoy stunning lochs and rolling hills, famous golf courses and excellent fishing, as well as lots of great things for all the family to do.

Favourite things: The most popular places visited by our guests recently are The Hill House (Charles Rennie Mackintosh's gem in nearby Helensburgh), Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, as well as the Falkirk Wheel.   A day out in Edinburgh, or Perth and Scone Palace are popular too.Blair Drummond Safari Park

Young families love Blair Drummond Safari Park and Briarlands Farm.   Older children enjoy Go Ape at Aberfoyle and Xscape at Braehead in Glasgow.   Train lovers can take the Jacobite Train to Mallaig from Helensburgh.

Lochs and Islands  Enjoy Loch Lomond by steamer, rowing boat, or by taking the post boat to Inchmurrin Island for lunch.   Make a short crossing from Balmaha to Inchcailloch Island Nature Reserve.   Walk the paths around the loch, climb the surrounding hills, and learn about the history and wildlife in the National Park.  West Highland Way

There are lots of other beautiful lochs and hills to explore, including Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar.  Some of the west coast islands, such as Bute and Arran, can be visited in a day.

Walking and Cycling  There are loads of good local walks, both easy and challenging.   The West Highland Way passes less than a mile from the house and the Rob Roy Way starts at Drymen.   You can climb Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi, The Cobbler and other high hills, or just stroll in the woods or along a lochside.

Tullycross Cottage is on National Cycle Route 7.   Bicycles can be hired from Drymen.

Bluebells at Aberfoyle

Gardens   This part of Scotland abounds with glorious gardens, large and small.   Come in May or early June to see the stunning blaze of azaleas and rhododendrons at Benmore, Ardkinglas, Crarae and many other amazing gardens.

Whisky and Cooking  Visit our very local Glengoyne Distillery to learn how this unique single highland malt whisky is produced.   The distillery is just a few minutes' drive away and is open all year round for tours.   The famous Nick Nairn Cook School, which runs brilliant cookery classes, is easily reached in twenty minutes.

Endrick Water Salmon Leap

Golf and Fishing   Golfers will find several interesting and demanding golf courses within ten miles, with Buchanan Castle and Strathendrick both just five minutes away.   There is fishing of all kinds, too, on lochs and rivers.   Loch Venachar is popular, as is the Carbeth Fishery.  You can watch the salmon leaping on the Endrick Water.
